Vinod babu is struggling his way towards the guesthouse and the scorching sun makes his already sweaty shirt even mushy. Shedding out the stink of the overnight journey, he is on his way to the village where he has been posted as an engineer on the upcoming power plant project. A nature lover by heart and a promising dreamer like him would have killed all his ambitions to settle down into a spellbinding emerald of a cozy village like Madhopur.

An ignorant gaon ki chori ‘Chayya’ awaits the arrival of a 'Chitchor' as she takes one more leap to finish her round of a desi hopping game with her eight year old neighbor ‘Bittu’. I envy the way rural souls are untouched of the time tracking fast track civil city life. It's a paradox why Vinod doesn’t opt to shift his gharonda back in Madhopur. Meanwhile, our desi chori wanders the woods totally unaware of the lurking wolves hounding her small village. Not very soon will they seize her fairyland with deceitful promises mediated through Vinod babu. At a murky trail they bump into each other and lightning strikes the valley. Somewhere nearby a storm of a fresh gossip spreads in the air that the farmers land will be acquired by the new babu in return of a promising offer. Vinod is the bait and lives are at stake.

For our hero stealing hearts is not a pesha but he instantly falls for Chhayas innocence which is untouched by any artificial makeup. As they sing and dance around the bushes a secret army is ready to rebel and shove off Vinod babu with his shehri proposal. The suave and empathetic heart of Vinod babu melts to the plight of the gareeb gaon ki janata. Climax!!! He chokes at his words and returns back to his sheher with a beautiful takeaway incentive ‘Chhaya’.

The glitzy busy city welcomes the young couple into its big fat Cosmo belly with open arms. As Vinod comes back to terms of his lost job from the ruins of the Madhopur incidents, the mere question of survival arises. Chhaya is welcomed into a house where Vinod is one of the total eight headcounts into a one bedroom kitchen occupancy of a middle class family.

This miniature 'Piya Ka Ghar' probes vulnerability into the young bahu’s mind but Vinod covers her qualms by gifting her scented gajras and romantic evening walks. The morning alarm for the young cuddled couple is a bang on the kitchen door (which is their make shift bedroom), with a shriek of "darwaza kholo pani aaya hai”. They struggle to find cozy moments together in the small house and finally leap to a decision on nesting their own 'Ghoranda'. Vinod has managed to find a reasonable job with the help of his jugadu jiju. Now they start painting a surreal picture of their 'Abudana' sitting on damp and windy black rocky shores of the cities favorite skyline.

Our musical story continues in the house hunting sessions when finally, on a fine sunny day Vinod n Chhaya are ready to put their entire savings into a reasonable 'Gharonda'. Every single brick is a call of their hopes and despairs. Every single column stands for the promise of togetherness. But not long enough could they soak into the joy and jijaji breaks the news of the builder being a fraud. Money is lost and the dream minaret crashes into rubles.

Vinod is broke by heart and pocket but Chhaya is a woman from the fittest soils.  As she moves on with her life; the 'Khatta Mitha' path has lovely little surprises. Chhaya manages to start a living out of taking care of a rich and lonely merchant named Mr. Modi. The mere presence of her charisma brings back a glow to Mr. Modi and his graying house. Vinod takes a gamble and with a heavy heart proposes Chhaya to marry the affluent Mr. Modi and bank in the opportunity of a lifetime. He imagines of a sick Mr. Modi lying in deathbed and signing off all his wealth at Chhaya’s helm. The 'Kayanat' however has a different plan. As they marry, it instantly brings back life into Mr. Modi and he is ready to bounce back with his badminton racket bubbling with chusti furti aur tandurusti

Vinod jolts back and loses hope. On a rainy day he blindly follows the route of a dusty bus, which takes him to a makeover destination. Enter our new yet old hero Colonel Julius Nagendranath Wilfred Singh. An amazing motivator and an even excellent charmer who trains the art of how to win hearts. Vinod is a fast learner and has moved on from his heartbreaking love life and ready to bounce back.

Back in the city the overwhelmed Mr. Modi could not resist the constant blossom of joys in his life and gives up to rest in peace. Vinod arrives at the Modi Mahal to see Chhaya with new hopes. Chhaya is now decked in a crisp white saree and the glittering reflection of her precious pearls almost blinds Vinod's eyes. Her sturdy voice declares that now this is her world and she is the widow who holds the keys of the empire Modi has left behind. An army of three young couples and a dashing young man overlook the awkward conversation between Vinod and their new mother who is as young as the babus of the Modi pariwar. Vinod is shattered. Period.......

Beep beep beep........I pick the phone with my eyes half open overlooking the light through my window. It's a Sunday morning and I forgot to put off the alarm last night. Without another thought I try and close my eyes drawing back into the last sequence of my very own home production. Oh!!! Was it a reel of one of my ambitious dream?

I am an ardent lover of the 70s and 80s Bollywood family drama movies and I sincerely appreciate those master pieces. I also secretly hold on to my passion of being a part of this fabulous world of cinema. As I crave to catch up with the continuity of my home production I thank the creative vision of people who belong to this league....Hrishikesh Mukharji, Basu Chatterjee, Gulzar, Amol Palekar, R D Burman and many more such legends who made the life of an ordinary man worth to be celebrated every day and every moment of life.....

CINEMA!!.......You are a reflection of my own life. Aur......mere paas thoda hai aur thode ki zaroot hai!!
